Every year for the past eight years, I have completed an edition of 50 prints for the Mesa (Arizona) Contemporary Arts Museum Art Print Calendar. The prints must be small--no more than 12" x 10"--and are combined in a calendar with 11 other artists' prints to be sold as afundraiser to help support the programming of this museum. The MCA is one of the strongest supporters of local artists and arts programming, so I am happy to donate an edition of prints each year to support them. This year, I am making the extra prints from this edition available to purchasers for $40 (plus shipping) until February 1, 2017 (or all prints are sold). From each purchase, 10% of the sale will be donated to the MCA. Use the contact page of this site to contact me and purchase.
I developed a loose theme 8 years ago based on objects that are important to me for these calendar prints. Sometimes the objects are items I own, such as my grandmother's salt and pepper shakers from her extensive collection, or objects that have made an impression on me in my travels such as the golden Buddhas I have seen throughout the Buddhist countries in Asia. I think about what I would like to see on an image that would hang over my desk for a month in the calendar. These thoughts help determine what I will develop into the image fro the print. This year, it is one of many gold Buddhas I saw in Cambodia. The words, in gold glitter, reflect a play on words that changes the meaning as one emphasizes "should" or "have."
Full calendars, with 12 artists' prints, are available at the following link. Calendars with 12 original prints are sold for only $200!
